English to children in Japan
"Hallelujah Hoikuen” (hoikuen
means “nursery school”) is looking for a full-time English
teacher. Applicant must be a native English speaker, love
children, be flexible, and have experience working with
children. An undergraduate TESOL degree is preferred, but not
required.
Hallelujah Hoikuen is a part of Narita Gospel Church, a Japanese church
with an international flavor in The Christian & Missionary
Alliance denomination. The nursery school has 30 children,
ages 1-6.
The position would entail being the main teacher for the 4-6 year olds,
as well as teaching songs, games, conversation, & interacting
with all the children of the nursery school in English as they go
through their day. In addition, the job would include
teaching songs or skits for the children to perform in the Christmas
program and the spring recital.
Housing is provided (pay own utilities) and the annual salary is
$14,000 ~ $16,000 depending on the exchange rate (equivalent to 120,000
Japanese yen per month) for 40 hours a week and a few Saturdays (field
trip, sports day, spring recital). Three weeks vacation and
Japanese national holidays (1 per month on average) are given
off. The contract would be for a minimum of one year.
